Medicine Cat and New Apprentice

Ghoststar's paws couldn't stop running. She could see the cats up ahead, fog clouding over their figures. They were so close, yet so far. Too far to clearly make out, too far to clearly hear. She could pick out bits and pieces. Starclan...Belief...Nine Lives... She didn't understand, couldn't understand. No matter how fast her white paws flew across the soft grass she could never reach them.
The she-cat jolted awake just as soon as she almost made out the face of one of the mysterious cats. Gray light shafted in through the bracken that had been hung over the entrance of the stone den like a curtain. She stretched, trying to shake the memories of her dream away. "Who is Starclan?" She muttered to herself, half curious about them yet also afraid. Why was she dreaming about them? Ghoststar pushed through the curtain, blinking in the half light. It was a nice night, despite the clouds that drifted eerily across the sky.
"Ghoststar, I sent out the patrols." Darkmoon padded up to her, the black she-cat's fur glowing a soft silver in the light. Ghoststar nodded to her Deputy, looking out at her clan. It had certainly grown; warriors filled the hallow tree trunk by the entrance and apprentices came in and out of the holly bush next to it. Silver had made herself comfortable in the small clump of boulders at the far side of camp, which was the Medicine Cat den. The only thing missing now was a Medicine Cat. Queens and Elders would come later, with time.
"We really need a Medicine Cat." Ghoststar thought aloud. Darkmoon had settled down next to her. She looked at her leader with concerned eyes.
"I know it. Featherpaw is healing though. Silver knows enough to get us along but I'm concerned still. If any worse wounds come along she may not know what to do."
"We need someone experienced and knowledgeable." Ghoststar still couldn't get any ideas about where they would find a Medicine Cat. Ghoststar flinched as she thought she felt a cat brush up beside her. She looked to find no one there. Her gaze flicked as she saw a russet red tail tip disappear through the camp entrance. Odd...No one in the clan has red fur like that. An intruder? Somehow Ghoststar didn't feel like it was a trespasser.
"Are you okay?" Darkmoon's amber eyes watched Ghoststar carefully. "You seem jumpy..."
"Yes, I'm just going to go take a walk." Ghoststar got to her paws and padded out. She continued to see the red tail and followed it. Was she in a dream again; chasing a Starclan cat? She saw the tail in a clump of ferns, tantalizingly close. Ghoststar leaped through the ferns, eager to catch the mysterious cat, but instead ran into a black tom.
"What do you think you're doing?!" The tom hissed. Ghoststar sat back in surprise. The tom had gray scars etched across his body, but were most prominent on his muzzle. She was embarrassed at first, but reminded herself she was the Leader around here.
"I should be asking you that. You've trespassed into Twilightclan territory." She arched her back, baring her teeth. The tom did the same to reveal yellow, twisted teeth.
"Mouse-brain, of course I know where I am! I came here to join. I know you need a Medicine cat." His tone was harsh. Ghoststar dropped her hostile attitude.
"A Medicine cat!" She tried not to sound to excited but couldn't hold back. "That's exactly what we need. I'll take you back to camp." The tom stopped her, glancing over his shoulder.
"I think there's a little she-cat following me." Ghoststar looked back, narrowing her eyes. She did catch scent of another cat.
"You may as well come out." A few heart beats passed before a reddish brown tabby she-cat padded out. She kept her head high and tail up, despite being spotted.
        "And who are you?"
"Owl. I want to join your clan too! I only followed you because I knew it would be an easy way getting here." The black tom rolled his eyes, ignoring her. Ghoststar raised her tail.
"Okay I'll take you both back to camp." Ghoststar started walking back. She thought maybe the reddish she-cat was the cat she had been following but she knew the red fur wasn't red enough on her. That must have been a Starclan cat...did they lead me to our Medicine Cat?

  2. Ghoststar's eyes were bright and her ears were pricked. The white she-cat could hardly contain her happiness. "We have a Medicine cat!" She waved her tail at the scarred black tom. "And this is Owl, she wants to join too as an Apprentice."

  5. Ghoststar looked at Tawnynight, flicking her tail for the she-cat to wait. She looked at the black tom. "What did you say your name was?" The white she-cat asked politely.

Talonpaw watched as Tawnynight walked up to their leader. What was she going to say? Was he not doing well with his training? The tabby tom's tail twitched nervously.

Snakefang acknowledged the new cats, but had little interest in them. He went to Featherpaw's den, careful not to wake her if she was sleeping. The dark tom wanted to make sure she was doing okay.

Featherpaw stirred a little at the noises outside of the den. She growled in annoyance and moved her tail to cover her ears.

  8. (^__^)

Talonpaw couldn't take it. He edged over to Tawnynight and quietly asked, "What are you going to talk to her about?"

Snakefang looked at her with soft amber eyes. "Having trouble sleeping?" He was by the entrance to the den, seated with his thin tail wrapped around his paws.

  11. silver looked up at him shaking her head to get some moss off her ear,"i need to get you water i will be right back..."she left leaving them alone and saw the new cats,"who are these new cats?"she asked softly to Ghoststar.

Tawnynight looked at her apprentice,"im going to tell her about what a brave thing you did the other night."she purred remembering his fur against hers.

  12. Snakefang watched her go, wondering why she avoided his question. His amber gaze fell back to Featherpaw. "How do you feel?" He mewed, trying not to disturb her but needing to be reassured his Apprentice was okay.

Talonpaw puffed out his chest. "Do you think she'll make me a Warrior?" He recalled the other night, shivering a bit as he imagined the frigid waters breaking through his fur.

  13. "im not sure.."she said looking up at the she-cat that made her wait she grew more and more impatient.

  14. Talonpaw hoped so. He sat beside his mentor, watching Ghoststar talk with the new cats.

(We'll have to wait for Warriors101 to get on and comment)

  15. Featherpaw growled. "Tired."

  16. Snakefang wondered why she was so grouchy. It wasn't like Featherpaw. He decided that maybe she wanted her space. "Well...so long as your wound is healing you'll be fine." The dark tabby turned to leave the den, speaking over his shoulder. "Just tell me if you need anything or if your wound feels worse."

  17. (ok)
Silver was on a mission and went to get water not really caring for the new cats. she came back and gave her the water. she flicked her tail to Snakefang to follow.

  18. Featherpaw muttered, "Whatever," and went back to sleep.

  19. (I was wondering why lol The suspense!)

Snakefang padded after Silver, hoping she had nothing bad to say.

  20. "she is doing okay but she is no listening to me and i dont know why did i do something wrong when we met?"she said turning around laying her tail over her paws. the sun sepped in through the cracks of the rocks hitting her pelt creating a silver shine.

  21. Snakefang flattened his ears. "Not listening?" He sighed heavily. "I don't think it's you, something has been up with Featherpaw lately." He glanced toward the Apprentice Den nervously.

  22. "okay well in other words she is doing fine but just sturbborn..."she flashed a sweet smile to the tom to bring peace to his worries.

  23. Snakefang felt a bit reassured. "You have a mentor now. Don't know his name but you could have him look her over too." He flicked his tail to the black tom talking to Ghoststar.

  24. "great..i'll be happy to meet him.."

  25. Snakefang nodded, waving his tail as he walked away. He decided he was hungry and scooped up a mouse from the fresh-kill pile to eat.

  26. Scorchtooth (or Scorch? Was he a medicine cat before orr) didn't like being so close to these 'other' felines. "What a lively bunch," he muttered under his breath, not sharing anyones excitement. It was just his luck he got stuck with this group. Couldn't send me a better one, eh? Even after all this time? Bunch of lousy dead cats. He thought flatly, then decided he might as well get this over with. "Scorchtooth(?). Oh, and I didn't get to introduce myself, you were too busy trying to attack me. Not that you surprised me, though. With that white pelt I could spot you a mile away." He sniffed, his eyes narrow, not caring if he seemed rude.

  27. (he can already have been a medicine cat)

Ghoststar flattened her ears at his remark. She hadn't heard that in awhile but it stung just as freshly as when she was a kit. The she-cat's claws unsheathed; she had always given cats wounds to think about if they ever said anything about her fur. I'm leader of a clan now, not a rouge. She forced her fur to lie flat. "Well, Scorchtooth, you have a clan name already so I assume you were once already a Medicine Cat?" She decided to ignore his comment.

Snakefang lifted his head from the mouse he was munching on, twitching his ears as he caught their conversation. Scorchtooth has a mouth on him doesn't he? The dark tabby was a bit disappointed at how Ghoststar handled it. He liked watching her get in fights with cats like that, it was entertaining. Ghoststar sure has changed.

  28. Darkmoon glared at Scorchtooth. She hadn't known him for very long, and she was already starting to dislike his attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  29. (okay! ^-^)

The old tom fully opened his eyes, pausing a bit to wash his paw before returning to the conversation. "Yes. I was. And a quite good one, may I add in." The scars on his face may suggest he was quite a fighter, too.
"Anymore questions? After all this walking, I could go for a nice, plump mouse right about now. And being with that bumbling kit has seeped me of my strength." He shot a glare at Owl while speaking.

Owl narrowed her eyes. It was hard enough having to listen to his remarks the whole way here. Now she has to deal with him in her new home? Yuck! And she wasn't even a kit!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ghoststar looked at him for a moment. He acted like an elder but wasn't old enough to be one. She was curious how a Medicine cat would get such scars. "No, no more questions. Scorchtooth will be our new medicine cat and his Apprentice will be silverpaw." She nodded to the silver tinted she-cat. "Owlpaw will be your new name and your mentor will be Thistlefur." The white she-cat flicked her tail, dismissing everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thistlefur grinned. He hadn't been a member of TwilightClan for a moon and he was already a mentor! He walked up to Owlpaw. "Hi, I guess I'm your new mentor..."

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Oh joy." Scorchtooth yawned, suddenly tired from his long trek. He wasn't so enthusiastic about meeting his new apprentice. An apprentice means a young cat, and those mean no good.. He thought as he made his way to the fresh-kill pile, already settling in with his surroundings.

Owlpaw nodded, her paws tingling with excitement. "Ooh! What can we do first? Scratch that. I want to do hunting. Let's do hunting!" She rambled, ready to make her way to the camp entrance.
