Seems just as she thought that a yowl echoed through the night air.
***
Tawnynight was racing through the forest, her heart pounding. She couldn't believe she'd done something like this! Well she could, kind of. She was away from her family. Away from those blood stained killers. Her paws seemed to fly through the undergrowth easily with the adrenaline pulsing through her. She didn't notice the tangle of vines up ahead. The bracken colored she-cat yowled as she got tangled up in the mesh. She was twisted upside down and her head bumped the ground as her tail fell into her face. "Ugh!"
***
"Snakefang! You need to wake up!" Ghoststar shook the dark colored tom. He moaned, rolling onto his other side to avoid the white she-cat. Her claws unsheathed and she slashed his ear, blood welling at the tip as her temper flared. The tom sat bolt upright.
"Ouch!" Ghoststar flicked an ear, satisfied that he was awake.
"There's a trespasser. I heard them yowl out in the forest. We have to go!" Snakefang's anger faded from his eyes. The two cats pushed out of the Warriors den, which was a hallow tree trunk, and raced out of camp and into the forest. The cat continued to wail and call for help so it wasn't difficult to find her in the dark night. They came upon the brown she-cat tangled up and hanging upside down in the vine tangles.
"Just hanging around?" Ghoststar joked.
(Continued in the comments)
"ha-ha i'm laughing stop it hurts, now can one you get me down from here!?" her green eyes pierced through their furs. she tossed and turned hissing a fussing wanting to be free.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar's ears swiveled back. "Well, you know you are trespassing on Twilightclan territory." She paced around her, not ready to help the tawny she-cat yet.
ReplyDeleteSnakefang narrowed his amber eyes at her harsh gaze. "Didn't you smell our scent markers?" She lashed his tail, eager for a fight. He had been in fights before but now he actually had something to fight for.
"Um-mm no...no I didn't I was running..."she stopped moving looking at them harshly. She bit at the vines and cut some loose she wasn't as stuck as before, now she wasn't upside down. She made sure her claws and teeth could be used if needed so. "Just get me down and I will leave you to your small excuse of a clan alone."
ReplyDeleteGhoststar's blue gray eyes flashed with anger. "Oh?" She nodded to Snakefang who came behind the she-cat and bit down the last vines. As soon as she was free, Ghoststar leaped on her with claws unsheathed.
ReplyDeleteSnakefang tackled her from behind as well.
"Aah!" she raised up on her hind paws and fell back knocking the wind out of Ghoststar, and knocking the tom on his head when they let go she ran through the undergrowth more careful and ran straight into their camp almost loosing away out but busted through one of the sides.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw had woken up by then. He watched shocked as the she-cat raced through camp and dashed after her in hot pursuit. The broad shouldered little tom slammed through the undergrowth, gaining on her.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar was on her paws in a second with Snakefang at her side. "She's getting away!" Snakefang started running after her. Ghoststar thought for a moment, not one to rush into things. Considering the way she went, maybe she could be caught up to if the white she-cat went by the river and followed it. There would be less undergrowth there and it would be easier to run. She dashed off to the river.
Tawny looked over her shoulder and laughed as she lost them, and went close to the river but barely. She made her way quietly up into one of the trees. The she-cat looked down staying quiet not breathing like a buffalo.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw panted as he looked around for her. He was close enough to smell her scent but with his flattened face didn't have as good as a scent. He continued on, thinking she went ahead.
ReplyDeleteSnakefang came after Talonpaw, thinking he was still on her trail.
Ghoststar got to the river on quiet paws. She leaped across some stepping stones and looked around for the bracken colored she-cat. She caught her scent on the wind by chance and followed it to the base of the tree. She looked up. "We meet again." She called to the she-cat.
"Listen I'm sorry I don't want any trouble. I will leave quietly just please I don't want to hurt anyone you don't know me or my background..." she pressed herself to the branch feeling this urge to hurt something taking over her. Tawny's eyes changed from scared to killer.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar narrowed her eyes as she looked up. "I don't know you. But I know your type." She sat at the base of the tree, licking a paw. "Your strong..and fast. We need cats like you around here." She looked back up at her.
ReplyDeleteShe looked away holding her head down, "Why do I feel like if I came down you would just keep me as prisoner?" she looked back down at the white she-cat.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar's tail tip began to twitch. "If you agree to join us, I wont have to. Right?" She was steadily losing her patience.
ReplyDeleteShe took a shaky deep breath calming down,"okay. I'll joy your clan." her eye softened a little she came down stiffly.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar felt her heart thud with excitement. Her clan had grown! She gave the she-cat ample space, not wanting to make her feel as though she might be attacked. "I'll show you back to camp, you've already gotten a good look at our territory." She couldn't help but purr.
ReplyDelete"great um-mm I'll fix any damage that was done to yo- our camp..." she walked behind the she-cat unsure she would fit in.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar lead her through the twists and turns of the forest back to the sheltered clearing of camp. Snakefang and Talonpaw were there already, looking rather defeated. Their eyes brightened when they saw Ghoststar come in with the rouge she-cat.
ReplyDeleteSnakefang lashed his tail, arching his back as he came toward her. "So you caught her! Is she our prisoner?" Ghoststar didn't answer. He flashed her an angry look.
Talonpaw kept his distance, unsure about her. "You're fast..." He muttered quietly, his pads hurting from trodding on brambles.
Ghoststar wasted no time. She leaped onto the large boulder of camp. "Everybody! Listen!" She felt proud looking down at the three cats. "We have a new cat joining us. She's..uh..what's your name?"
She smiled a fake smile to Snakefang, her paws bleeding she walked closer to Ghoststar sitting down pulling out brambles. "I'm Tawny."her paws didn't hurt but they stung when she pulled them out but the pain went away.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar looked down, noticing her bleeding pads. "Alright, Tawny. But you'll need a proper warrior name." She thought for a moment, eyeing the dark she-cat. "Tawnynight. You will be a Warrior of Twilightclan."
ReplyDeleteSnakefang knew he should call out her name, which he did half heartedly.
Talonpaw cheered loudly, deciding that Tawnynight was an alright cat.
She looked to her left and saw the tiny hole she made busting through the wall,"Thank you for letting me join your clan I take back what i said earlier you cats are strong and willing and I'm happy to be a part of it." she speak softly and truthful.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar's blue gray eyes rested on her, brightening a little. "Thank you. But the night is still young! We need hunting patrols. And training." Ghoststar narrowed her eyes, wondering if Tawnynight would be a suitable mentor for Talonpaw. "Snakefang and I will go hunting, you and Talonpaw go patrol. Do some training while your at it."
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw looked at Tawnynight, eyeing her carefully.
She nodded in respect and turned around to face the tiny kit. "Hi Talonpaw..."
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw was already walking past her. "We better get this show on the road right? Intruders wont wait for us." His fluffy tail arched over his back as he walked along.
ReplyDeleteShe trotted up to him in only a few steps passing him easily. "come on then." she was already out of the camp.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw scoffed, "You just got here. You don't even know where the border is." His big paws made lots of noise in the thick foliage.
ReplyDelete"That may be true but I do have a nose, and second off don't step so hard you will let any trespassers know we were coming.", she stopped looking back at him with a little hint of hate, but was taken over with her green eyes.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw tried to step lighter, but he had a difficult time controlling his force. His flat face twisted with frustration. "I can't!"
ReplyDelete"Okay stop don't throw a hissy fit when you step down breath in a pattern its the same when you run..." she spun around to face him not going to take any of his whining.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw's ears flattened. "Why does it matter how I step. We're patrolling not hunting." He pointed out matter of factly.
ReplyDelete"Okay whatever don't believe me! You stay here I will be right back..."she walked onto the shadows leaving him alone. She was in the bushes behind him making sure he did know she was there.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw watched her go. He decided he didn't want to stay there and started padding away toward the border. "If she wants to mess around instead of do our job then whatever..I'll do it alone."
ReplyDeleteShe followed him and jumped out at him pinning him. Tawny's eyes showed disappointment,"I thought i told you to stay there! Your gonna get yourself killed, and I could hear you from where I was. learn to listen to orders before you regret it!"
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw writhed underneath her. "Don't tell me what to do!" His hind paws found her belly and with a mighty heave he threw her off him with surprising strength. The tabby tom's claws slid out.
ReplyDeleteHer eyes flared with hate and anger, "I am your mentor for the day so you will listen to me whether you like it or not!!"she grew bigger than him as she towered him. "Next time keep your claws in or I will give you a reason to really use them!" her belly hurt but she didn't show that it did.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw flattened his ears. He was afraid, but mad at the same time. "Fine..." The tabby mumbled. He got up, whisking past her and continuing toward the border.
ReplyDeleteShe followed after him her eyes returned to its normal green, but she felt bad for saying sure a harsh comment at the end. "So how big is the territory?"she stepped up beside him trying to be friendly. Her voice was like silk as she spoke to the young cat.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw's ears stayed back. "Big enough..." He mumbled, trying to be quest but still not doing a very good job.
ReplyDelete"Joy...so how long have you known the other two?"she looked down at him for s split second then back up.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw was reminded of their time in the two-leg place together. "I've known them since I was a kit...I don't know when they knew eachother."
ReplyDelete"Oh."she looked up not noticing anything out of the ordinary. she wondered how her family was doing wondering if they missed her as much as she missed them.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw wondered about her family and friends but didn't feel comfortable asking. Instead he just padded along the border, marking it occasionally.
ReplyDeleteShe missed Boulder and her other friends, her pain showed in her eyes but she tried to hide it.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw glanced at her. "You okay?" He mewed quietly.
ReplyDelete"Yeah I"m fine why? Are we almost done patrolling?"she looked down at him.
ReplyDelete"Well, yea almost, but you just look sad." Talonpaw's ears pricked as he hoped she would open up to him, but then again she had no reason to. All they had done was fight since they met.
ReplyDelete"I'm fine I'm just thinking of someone...they chose a path I didn't want to follow at least I think they did..."she shrugged looking at him with soft green eyes.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw decided not to pry any further. "If you say so...Just around this bend and we'll be back to camp." He nodded his head in the direction.
ReplyDeleteShe speed up her pace and got back to camp happy to be some place open.
ReplyDeleteTalonpaw padded into camp, and plopped down. He started grooming twigs and thorns that had embedded themselves in his fur out with rough laps of his tongue.
ReplyDeleteGhoststar and Snakefang came back with prey clamped in their jaws. The white she-cat held a mouse and a vole while the dark tom held a plump weasel. "Lunch!" Their leader mumbled around the fur.
Tawnynight was licking her dirty fur and got out any twigs and brambles. She looked up not in a hurry to get to her food. when she was done grooming her dark brown fur she walked over to the group unsure hows food works here, back at home if a kit or apprentice went before the others they were taught to say back till they were all full.
