A Deputy Rises, New Warrior, and Apprentice

Talonpaw flinched as he felt hot breath down his back, reaching through even his thick fur to touch the skin. It was the ugliest creature he had ever seen. Black and white, rugged fur coated is body, with two tiny, beady black eyes that held no emotion of a sympathetic creature. The ginger tom could hardly run much longer. Talonpaw left tabby clumps behind as he slashed through the thick undergrowth, trying to flee the rouge badger. "H-Help!"
Ghoststar didn't know the young cat had stumbled upon the beast while exploring off on his own. He was supposed to be with Snakefang, but the young Apprentice had snuck off once again, disobeying orders. The white she cat was munching on a mouse with Tawnynight, both she-cats not really enjoying the other's company but willing to share a meal anyway. Snakefang tromped through the forest, his claws unsheathed with frustration. "Talonpaw! Talonpaw!"

Dark took a deep breath before she stepped over the well marked border line. This could be a start to her new life. If these cats would accept her. Would they? She hoped so. Would it be like being a rouge? Fighting for your rank and respect each and ever day... The black she-cat shook at the thought, feeling the old battle scars hidden under her fur tingle. Dark padded through the soft undergrowth, enjoying the dusk. It was nice here and quiet...A splitting screech shook the air, sending the black she-cat on her toes with back arched.
A fluffy ginger tom busted through the undergrowth just ahead of her. The badger following him grew closer to snapping at his wide paws with each second. Climb a tree, you stupid kit! The tabby didn't make a move for any trees. Dark let out a frustrated growl, she had to help him, didn't she? It shocked her to feel a pelt beside hers on either side. "Wha? Who are you!?" She slipped out between the two cats, getting into a battle crouch.
There was a tortoiseshell tom and a feathery gray tabby she-cat. "I'm Thistle. Don't know who this little kit is she just started following me." He spat a bit at the little she-cat. She pricked her ears hopefully.
"I'm, um, Feather." She still wasn't used to not using her kitty-pet name. "I thought you were heading for this clan too so I'd tag along." Dark shook her head, not really caring who they were. Her thoughts were focused on the endangered kit.
"Whoever you are, I need your help." She thought on her paws quickly and told them a plan with direct orders. The two cats seemed willing to listen and each went separate directions like she told them.
"Over here!" Dark hissed to the ginger tabby tom as he raced past her, his breath catching in his throat as he ran out of energy. With a last ditch attempt, he swerved toward her, brown eyes wild. As the badger followed him in hot pursuit, she was ready. The black she-cat leapt in front of it with a mighty hiss, sending it reeling backward for a moment. It fell right into the paws of Feather and Thistle who gave it a few good blows over the eyes and ears. The creature stood, roaring. It's eyes glared at the cats defiantly for a few heart beats, but that quickly switched to fear and the creature went barreling off into the trees in flee.
"You...You saved me." Talonpaw panted heavily, not even able to stand after running literally for his life. Dark watched the badger leave, licking her muzzle in satisfaction.
"It was nothing, kit." Thistle and Feather looked at each other then at Dark.
"Oh, that was more than nothing." Three figures melted out of the foilage like shadows. Nobody had noticed them there. Ghoststar padded over to Talonpaw, licking him gently as she would a startled kit. Dark suddenly felt trapped, and threatened. The stark white she-cat looked up. "You made a brilliant plan back there."

  1. Dark flattened her ears, but nodded. "Thank you. The kit was in danger. I had to do something."

Thistle walked up to the white she-cat. "And who are you?"

Feather had her eyes on a dark gray tabby tom. He was handsome. She quickly turned her gaze to her paws in case she was caught staring.

    (I'm assuming Snakefang is there...)

  2. (He sho is)

Ghoststar flicked an ear. "My name is Ghoststar. Leader of Twilightclan. In any other case, we would have chased you out by now as trespassers." She arched her tail, speaking carefully. She wanted them to join. "But you showed great courage and wit by helping our young Apprentice just now. So maybe instead, you'd like to join our clan?"

Snakefang was tense, his dark tail tip twitching as he over looked the intruding cats. He didn't like how quickly Ghoststar trusted any cat that came into the territory. So they saved Talonpaw. What were they doing here in the first place? He noticed the gray she-cat's fur was extra soft. Too soft to be a street cat. He narrowed his amber eyes as he looked at her.

Talonpaw sat up, still shaking a bit. He looked around wildly every so often, still fearing the badger might return to finish him off.

  3. Dark gave a nodded. "I was actually hoping to join... I've heard of this Clan and I was a little curious about it."

Feather felt Snakefang's gaze on her. Her ears heated up from his intense gaze. What was he thinking of? Feather thought.

Thistle glared at Talonpaw. "The badger's not coming back, you know. We chased it off. It ain't coming back."

    (o3o I imagine Thistle with a Texan accent... I don't know why)

  4. (LOL now that's all i'm gonna hear from now on)

Ghoststar purred to herself lightly. "That's great. What about you two?" She looked at Thistle, then Feather. She noticed how the young she-cat appeared to be nervous, but didn't question it.

Talonpaw shot a glare at Thistle, even though he was thankful for their help. "It might...y-you never know."

  5. (YAY! :D)

Thistle gave a smirk and nodded. "I'm not sure about the kittypet though." And then looked back at Talonpaw. "I doubt it."

Feather stiffened when the word kittypet was mentioned.

  6. Snakefang's ears swiveled back when his suspicions were confirmed. "A kitty-pet. We can't have soft pawed kitty-pets in our clan." The dark tabby Warrior lashed his tail once, looking at Ghoststar.

Ghoststar shot him a glare. "I will say who can and cannot be in our clan. Know your place, Snakefang." The fur rose on her shoulders slightly. She looked at Feather with kind gray blue eyes. "If you want to be apart of this clan, you proved you're more than capable of being a great clan cat."

Talonpaw looked at Feather. A kitty-pet? He had to agree with Snakefang that seemed like a bad idea, to let her in. "What if she brings the two-legs here?"

    ReplyDelete
  7. Feather snapped her gaze up and glared at Snakefang. "I maybe a kittypet, but I'm just as fierce as a mountain lion!" She looked at Talonpaw. "They won't. Last time I saw them, they had a new cat."

  8. Snakefang's ears pricked a little at the way she defended herself. Maybe she wasn't such a soft kitty-pet after all? That would be yet to be seen. He scoffed, looking past her as though he hadn't heard her.

Ghoststar nodded. "Then it is agreed. You three will join our clan, kitty-pet or not. We'll show you back to our camp." The white she-cat began weaving through the undergrowth in the direction of the clearing.

Talonpaw got up on shaky legs and followed slowly.

  9. Feather hissed at Snakefang, before following Ghoststar.

Thistle chuckled at Feather's attempts to be brave. It was hilarious.

    Dark sighed, and followed Ghoststar.

  10. Ghoststar lead them back to camp swiftly. When they got there she leaped up onto what she had started calling Twilight Boulder for the way it lit up silver. "Cats of Twilightclan! Today we have new joiners! Thistle. Your warrior name will be Thistlefur. You followed orders today without question. This clan needs loyalty like that. Feather. You aren't old enough to be a warrior so you shall be Featherpaw. Your mentor..." The white she-cat scanned the crowd. She saw the way Snakefang shrunk back, hoping not to be picked. "Will be Snakefang."

Snakefang flattened his ears. He sighed, looking over at Featherpaw.

"Finally, Dark. Today you thought on your paws and weren't shy about giving orders to get something done. These traits would be good in a Deputy. You shall be Darkmoon, Deputy of Twilightclan."

  11. Tawnynight was trotting to get up to the group she looked at Snakefang with wonder of who they were but didn't expect and answer from the harsh male. "Ghoststar who are they?"she asked walking next to her as she whispered the question.

    1. (she said this before the whole ceremony)

"Some cats we found in our territory. They saved Talonpaw from a badger."

  12. Thistle smiled at his new name. "Thistlefur... I like it."

Darkmoon's eyes widen. "Me? Deputy? Thank you, Ghoststar, I won't let you down!"

Featherpaw's ears flattened when Snakefang was mentioned as her mentor... Better than no mentor at all.

(o3o Thistlefur has a Texan accent, Darkmoon has a Danish accent, and Featherpaw has a Spanish accent. I like giving my cats accents for some reason)

  13. (wat lol)

"well that was soft of them..." She wasn't sure about them so stood off watching with her green eyes shining in the light. she looked back unnoticeable at Snakefang.

    ReplyDelete
  14. (that spices things up lol)

Ghoststar purred a little. "I know you wont. Now, Tawnynight can show you all around." She nodded to the bracken colored Warrior.

Snakefang stopped Featherpaw from following Tawnypelt. "No you, your going training with me now." Despite her being a kitty-pet he still liked having an Apprentice.

Talonpaw came up to Ghoststar. "Who's my mentor? When will I get one?"

Ghoststar looked at the young tom with sympathy. "I have to find the right cat for you. And trust me its not easy with how stubborn you are."

    ReplyDelete
  15. ( ~(o3o)~ I like accents. I have a heavy Texan one)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Darkmoon looked at Tawnynight. "Hello, I'm Darkmoon."

Featherpaw growled a little, but followed him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "I can Ghoststar when I'm don't with him we will be following orders in no time."she looked at Talonpaw with hope and trust. her green eyes softened when she looked at the tom then went back to normal when she looked back at Ghoststar.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ghoststar flicked an ear. "Very well. Tawnynight can be your mentor." She shoed the little tom away. "Go help her show these cats around."

    ReplyDelete
  19. Snakefang lead her out into the forest. "We'll work on stealth first. A Twilightclan cat must always be stealthy." He crouched. "Copy this crouch."

    ReplyDelete
  20. She smiled a light at the small cat hoping he wouldn't be hard she didn't want to hurt him. They walked off showing the new cats around.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Featherpaw copied his crouch. "Like this?" Her tail was twitching lightly.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "Hi I'm Tawnynight...you're a short little fellow aren't you?"she looked down smiling softly.

  23. Snakefang place a paw over her tail tip. "Completely still." He looked her over. "Not bad. Now, keep your weight evenly balanced." He crouched again. "If you can build your muscles up, this crouch makes it easier to navigate through the foliage." He was being nice, considering her roots.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Featherpaw nodded and tried to even out her weight. "How's this?"

    ReplyDelete
  25. (ugh ok wow im really mixed up lol)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Snakefang nodded his approval. "Not bad." He couldn't help but throw in, "For a kitty-pet."

    ReplyDelete
  27. (nah its fine, your new to dis =3 look at the cats of the clan page and then reread some things to catch up)

    ReplyDelete
  28. (ok)

Tawnynight was done showing them the whole territory she was exhausted and didn't want to do anything else but she had to train Talonpaw. "come on Talonpaw we are going to train for a little while." she said looking at him then headed to the camp entrance.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Featherpaw dropped her crouch and stood straight up. "And what's wrong with being a kittypet?"

    ReplyDelete
  30. Snakefang looked at her. "Easier to ask what's not with being a kitty-pet." He flattened his ears. "They live soft cooshy lives and are just there for two-leg's amusement."

    Talonpaw sighed, "Okay.."

    ReplyDelete
  31. Featherpaw fur spiked up and she hissed at him. "It's better than living as a rouge and killing almost any cat you see!"

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Come cheer up, it will be fun as long as you follow orders."she nudged him then dashed off through the forest. "Try and keep up!"she called over her shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Snakefang's amber eyes flashed with anger. He was on his paws, bristling. Their muzzles were half a tail length away as he snarled, "How do you know I killed whoever I see?! There's more to being a rouge than that. Its about survival, something you wouldn't know if it bit you in the face."

Talonpaw heard their argument as he raced after Tawnynight. They'll have to get used to eachother at some point.. He thought, rolling his eyes as he tried to keep up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Featherpaw glared. "Well after my last encounter with cats, I'm lucky to be alive!"

    ReplyDelete
  35. Snakefang opened his mouth to speak, then closed it. "What other encounter?"

    ReplyDelete
  36. She took a fast turn running into Snakefang, "I'm sorry Snakefang..."she pushed Feather paw out of the way as she came nose to nose with the tom.
    (like balto and jenna)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Snakefang took a step back, a little surprised. "Just watch were you're going next time." He looked at Featherpaw, realizing that with all the fighting they were doing he wasn't being a very good mentor. He sighed heavily. "Featherpaw, let's just forget about this and go back to training okay?" It wasn't much of an apology but his amber eyes said what his words wouldn't.

Talonpaw came up behind the cats. "Hey, caught you!" He panted, tapping Tawnynight with a paw.

    ReplyDelete
  38. (she didnt mean to run into him or push Featherpaw)

    ReplyDelete
  39. (Oh ok! When I read it, my brain made it confusing. People read things differently, so)

    Featherpaw growled slightly, but nodded.

    ReplyDelete
  40. She turned to Talonpaw jumped to a crouch then speed off. "no you didn't I'm still standing she hid behind a tree hoping he would pass her.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Talonpaw heaved as he raced after her. "How is training?" He asked confused. He stopped not able to run any farther. He was close enough that any other cat would pick up the scent, but with his flattened face he didn't.

Snakefang noticed she was still hostile. "Well, now your pumped for some battle practice." He teased, trying to lighten the mood.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Featherpaw just growled lightly.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The dark tabby tom got into a low crouch, this one different from the stealth crouch because it was more defensive and tight. "Copy me."

    ReplyDelete
  44. "This helps burn any fat on your lungs and so you can learn every tree in your territory so you can run through it with no sight or smell.."she came up from behind the tree showing herself.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Featherpaw nodded and crouched down, still tense from the argument.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Talonpaw plopped down. "Can't we work on fighting." He could tell she thought he was weak. Not in fighting..I'm the strongest cat here! He thought pridefully.

Snakefang began circling her, not taking his amber eyes away from the gray tabby she-cat for a second.

    ReplyDelete
  47. "You okay kid?"she smiled crouching down.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "Yea I'm fine...I just want to practice fighting instead of running. I already know how to run." Talonpaw mewed.

    ReplyDelete
  49. "Okay copy me..." she moved swiftly around him waiting for him to copy her.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Talonpaw followed her movements, watching her carefully with wide brown eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. She raised up on her hind legs and rolled forward hitting the tom and pinning him to the ground."ha got ya.."

    ReplyDelete
  52. Talonpaw used the same move on her as before. His hindpaws found her soft belly fur and pushed her off him with a powerful kick. This time he kept his claws in.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Tawnynight fell back on her feet and dashed around and batted his ear her claws kept in. She tackled him from the side holding his hind legs down and pinning his head."What would do if my claws were out on your throat but not cutting?"she leaned down whispering softly in his ear she smiled to herself as she thought about what he might do.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Talonpaw thought for a moment. "Maybe I could twist to bite your paw?" He wasn't sure, but was exhilarated from the fight.

    ReplyDelete
  55. "That could work but if you twist to bite they could just step down and stop your air way.Try twisting over to your other side when they are caught off guard. If they aren't distracted and they are hurting you go limp, and when they think they won they think they have you down, the enemy brings down their defense jump up and suprize them."she said getting off of him to let him up. She was licking a paw with her puffy tail was placed over her paws.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Talonpaw nodded, getting up and giving his thick ginger pelt a shake. Without warning, he tackled the brown tabby she-cat. "Reow!" He made sure his claws stayed sheathed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. She smiled licking his cheek before she kicked him off her claws were sheathed as well making sure she didn't hurt him. Her tail lashed with shock but pride. "Alright you wanna call it good for today and pick up where we left off?"she said panting licking her lips.

    ReplyDelete
  58. "Bleck!" The ginger tabby rubbed a paw over the tufty fur on his cheek. He shot a glare at Tawnynight but wasn't really mad. "Yea sure, I'm tired." He got to his paws, stretching till his limbs quivered before he started back to camp.

    ReplyDelete
  59. "You did good stronger than you look that's for sure."she stood up walking back to camp. She felt proud to say she taught something to someone a little younger than her.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Talonpaw puffed out his chest proudly. "Thanks." He cocked his head. "I think?" With a shrug he trotted up beside her. So far, having a mentor was great. He actually learned something.

    ReplyDelete
  61. "Don't think about it just soak in the thrill and the complement."she nudged him with her shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  62. He nodded, letting her compliment sink in. He was strong, wasn't he? Imagine when he becomes full grown. I'll be the strongest in the whole clan! Talonpaw beamed proudly. "I could eat a whole two voles right now." His stomach grumbled.

    ReplyDelete
  63. "Yeah me too."she felt her stomach growl. When they got to camp she grabbed a plump mouse,"You wanna share?"she asked Talonpaw through the fur of the mouse.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The ginger tabby nodded eagerly. He found a mossy spot for them to sit and plopped down, pausing to pick some twigs out of his thick fur. "Have you ever trained any other cats before?" He asked, letting her have first bite.

    ReplyDelete
  65. She swallowed before answering,"No first time actually."she looked up at him.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Talonpaw took a bite, licking his muzzle happily at the taste. "Well, your pretty good at it." He shuffled his paws a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  67. "Thanks I try."she noticed his shuffling,"You okay?"she nodded looking down at his paws.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Talonpaw forced himself to stop fidgeting. "What? Me? Fine." He couldn't look into her pretty gaze for long. He lapped up a few more bites of the prey before standing up with a yawn. "I think I'm gonna get some rest. You can finish up the mouse. Thanks for sharing." He flashed her a friendly glance before padding to the Apprentice den.

    ReplyDelete
  69. "Oh okay...night"she watched him go with soft eyes. She finished the mouse and went to lay down her tail neatly tucked under her dark brown nose, slowly letting sleep take over.
